Denny Zager of the duo Zager and Evans released this number 1 song in 1969. Zager was born in Wymore, Nebraska on this day in 1943. I remember the song well but I was in junior high and did not know that Zager and Evans were Nebraskans at the time. The words are so good that the words are easy to remember now.
