Fred Astaire was born Fred Austerlitz on May 10, 1899 in Omaha, Nebraska. His first dance partner was his older sister, Adele. He appeared on stage on Broadway and in London. We all know him from his movies where he danced beautifully. He was a perfectionist who practiced each dance until he thought it was perfect. Most of us think of Ginger Rogers as his dance partner, but he had a number of partners in the movies.
I am so glad we get to see his dancing in the classic movies.
