Happy Birthday to Marlon Brando--known as the greatest actor of all time.

Marlon Brando was born on April 3, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska. His mother was an unconventional woman of her time. She was an actress and wore trousers. Her parents were separated during part of his childhood. His mother also suffered from alcoholism. His father was a talented amateur photographer.

Brando was a rebel all his life and was expelled from his high school. He went to New York and studied acting. He first acted on Broadway and one of his first roles was in I Remember Mama. I wish I could have seen him in it. It is one of my favorite movies with Irene Dunne, but Brando was not in the movie.

Brando was a brilliant actor and made many great movies, including A Street Car Named Desire, Julius Caesar, On the Waterfront, and of course, The Godfather--to name just a few. Brando was also very interested in civil rights. He refused his best actor award for The Godfather because of how Indians were depicted in film.

He had a long acting career that we can still enjoy. This is but a very brief synopsis of his life and I would encourage you to read more about him on imdb.com.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Brando.
