Joshua Tree National Park has huge rock piles which are good for climbing if you're good at that sort of thing. Unfortunately, I'm not but these piles of rocks are millions of years old. They are granite which started out as one big slab about 15 miles below the surface. With time, earthquakes, water, and erosion, the slabs were pushed above the surface and these piles of rocks are the result.
